Background
After completing a PhD in Economics, Jonathan began his career at consultancy firm London Economics, where he first specialised in the media sector. He went on to work for a screen industries trade body (British Screen Advisory Council, now British Screen Forum), broadcasting sector regulators (Ofcom and its predecessor, the Independent Television Commission) and a public service broadcaster (Channel 4) — full details are on the Timeline page.
Jonathan expanded his skillset in his six years at Channel 4: after spending periods in the Strategy and Corporate Relations teams, he was promoted to Head of Public Value, where he pioneered a new way of looking at the different forms of value arising from the activities of an organisation facing a mix of public and private objectives. The resulting “Public Impact Report” drew on his ability to undertake complex in-depth analysis and to convey the big picture. This combination of skills led to his subsequent work on data advocacy and case-making.
Jonathan set up Inflection Point in 2009, building on his media sector and data advocacy expertise (see Clients page for full details).
